About Krysia: Meet the Mind of Humour, Social Truth & Authenticity

Krysia is a prolific Northern writer from Morecambe Bay whose work fuses humour, heart, and social realism. Her stories centre on complex, often overlooked female protagonists, women whose voices are rarely heard yet impossible to forget.

A former child actor, Krysia trained at the Oldham Theatre Workshop before earning scholarships to the Sylvia Young Theatre School and Italia Conti. Her early career on screen soon evolved into a passion for storytelling behind it. She began writing plays and scripts, developing original work that went on to be performed at BAFTA and in theatres across the UK.

Krysia’s talent for sharp, emotionally resonant comedy has been widely recognised. She has been longlisted for the BAFTA Rocliffe TV Comedy initiative and twice longlisted for the BBC Writersroom. Her debut novel was selected for the CBC Children’s and YA course under the mentorship of acclaimed author Catherine Johnson.

Her commissioned work includes a YA drama series about Sarah Forbes Bonetta, Queen Victoria’s god-daughter, for producer Valentine Nonyela, and a podcast drama exploring the rise of anti-vax movements for SoundCloud.

In partnership with comedy writer Joanna Tilley, Krysia has co-written a slate of projects that combine grit, wit, and empathy. Their sitcom Searching for Sam was shortlisted for both the David Nobbs Memorial Award and the Female Pilot Club, and their work has been optioned by producer Nicola Gregory (Dreaming Whilst Black). Together, they are developing new projects with Can-Can, Meerkat, and Made in Manchester.

Internationally, Krysia has written five episodes for the third series of Unified Productions’ hit drama-doc I Killed…, recently acquired by a major streaming platform and now in production.

Alongside her writing, Krysia is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of performers. She teaches drama to children, helping them build confidence, creativity, and a love of storytelling. Her workshops encourage young people to find their voice — often the same kind of voice her own work celebrates: authentic, funny, and fearlessly human.

A graduate of Channel 4’s prestigious mentorship with producer Philip Shelley and screenwriter Kitty Percy, Krysia also co-wrote a stage play with Tilley, performed in Brighton and London. She continues to collaborate with leading creatives including Bafta Winners, Steve Stamp (People Just Do Nothing) and Charlie Swinbourne (Waterloo Road) and Joanna Tilley (Breaking The News) is long time comedy partner who have many projects together.

Krysia’s distinctive voice - fierce, funny, and unflinchingly human,  marks her as one of Britain’s most exciting emerging storytellers.
